This summer, strange-folk phenomenon Wax Mannequin once again abandons the trappings of Hamiltonian domestic life in favour of wayward travel.
He performs in Nanaimo at Diners Rendezvous Aug. 10 as part of a Western Canada tour to promote his new album No Safe Home.
The album is a subdued collection of ethereal and somber folk songs that are rife with the minstrel’s wry wit, morose personal observations, veiled social commentary and uplifting melodic cadences.
The tour will also mark an unconventional re-release of Wax’s older material: he will be selling candle busts made in his likeness, each containing his entire collected works – five albums worth of music stored on well-sealed USB drives and embedded in the wax.
