Reel deal
Shuswap Film Society presents Oranges and Sunshine, a film about how the British government secretly sent thousands of children in care to Australia in the 1950s and ’60s, and a tireless social worker who reunited families, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1 at Salmar Classic Theatre.
Bottle drive
A bottle drive to support a playground for Silver Creek School runs Saturday, Oct. 1. Drop recyclable beverage containers at the school or Bill’s Bottle Depot. A rubber duck race takes place Oct. 8. The winning duck will fetch $1,000, while second place will earn $500 and third place $250. There will be three random draws of $50 each. Chances of winning are one in 1,000, with five additional prize. Only those 19 and older are eligible to buy tickets. Tickets at $20 each are available at the Silver Creek store and Bell Communications, Save-On Foods and Dixon’s Liquor Store.
