Wine tasting

The  Salmon Arm Rotary Club hosts the ninth annual Shuswap Wine Festival from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28 at the SASCU Recreation Centre. Taste wines from more than 20 B.C. wineries while enjoying savoury hors d’oeuvres. Tickets at $50 are available at Hideaway Liquor Store or Barton Insurance.

 

 

Wintervention

Skookum Cycle presents Warren Miller’s Like There’s No Tomorrow, at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28 at the Salmar Classic Theatre. Doors open at 6. Tickets for this event that features lots of action and valuable prizes are $15 for adults and $10 for children under 12.

 

 

Reel deal

Shuswap Film Society presents the French film Potiche, a whimsical comment on love and politics, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 at the Salmar Classic Theatre.

 

 

Celebrate sockeye

SAGA Public Art Gallery and the Adams River Salmon Society’s Peak Year, an exhibition of works by 10 Shuswap and Thompson artists celebrating the sockeye salmon run of 2010 to Oct. 30 wraps up Oct. 29. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday.

 

 

Contenders

Songwriter/multi-instrumentalist musicians Blu and Kelly Hopkins have been entertaining  audiences around B.C. and Alberta for the past 10 years and appear as special guests of The Contenders, Valdy and Gary Fjellgard Thursday, Nov 3 at Carlin Hall in Tappen.

Food for thought

Deo Lutheran Church hosts a five-course meal  prepared by Shuswap Chefs, with bread and dessert from Blue Canoe Bakery to support famine relief in East Africa, at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5 at the Little Mountain Field House.
