The Shuswap Writers Group meets from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21 in the boardroom at the Mall at Piccadilly. The group’s first coffee house of the season runs from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23 at the Vida Juice Bar at 681 Marine Park Drive.

 

Forest celebration

The Interior Lumber Manufacturers’ Association hosts two award-winning films from the International Forest Film Festival at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22 at the Salmar Grand. Admission is free.

 

Saga jazz

SAGA Jazz features Lennart Axelsson at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22 at SAGA Public Art Gallery. Admission is by donation.

 

Reel deal

Shuswap Film Society presents The Tree of Life, a U.S. film starring Brad Pitt and Sean Penn, set in Texas, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24 at Salmar Classic Theatre.

 

Celebrate sockeye

SAGA Public Art Gallery and the Adams River Salmon Society present Peak Year, an exhibition of works by 10 local artists celebrating the sockeye salmon run of 2010, Friday, Sept. 30. Opening reception is at 7 p.m. and the exhibition continues to Oct. 30.

 

Beatlemania

The Taxman Beatles Tribute band performs in concert at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30 at the Salmar Classic Theatre. Admission is $10.  More information is available at www.facebook.com/taxmanbeatles.

One Camel Short

A CD release concert by One Camel Short will be happening at the SAGA Public Art Gallery on Saturday evening, October 1.
