Vancouver’s Bonnie Kilroe returns to the North Okanagan with her tribute to country music legend Patsy Cline.

Still crazy for Cline

It’s a weekend devoted to music legends with a tribute to Patsy Cline.

It’s a crazy weekend in the North Okanagan for music legends.

Not only is the Louisiana Hayride in Story and Song pulling into the Vernon Performing Arts Centre for another go Sunday, Vancouver celebrity impersonator Bonnie Kilroe is returning to the region with her tribute to Patsy Cline.

She performs at Sneakers Sports Bar in Vernon’s Village Green Hotel Friday and at the Armstrong Inn Sunday.

A “farce” to be reckoned with,  Kilroe has appeared from Alaska to Antarctica with three suitcases full of costumes and wigs impersonating everyone from Cher, Barbra Streisand to Lady Gaga. However, it’s her solo impersonation as country legend Cline that has attracted the most attention as she captures the unique vocal talent and re-creates the flamboyant fashion, styling and passion of the country legend with uncanny accuracy.

“Her moment in the spotlight was brief, but she lives on in her music,” said Kilroe, who has been performing as Cline for more than a decade on cruise ships, in cabarets and at conventions.

“Cline’s single, Crazy, is one of the most popular jukebox songs ever and second only to Elvis Presley’s Hound Dog. Aside from her music, Patsy left an enduring impression on her fans and fellow country stars for her courage and perseverance.”

Besides Crazy, Kilroe’s tribute brings alive classic songs such as Sweet Dreams, Walking after Midnight, I Fall to Pieces, and many others.

In her act, Kilroe recreates a live concert atmosphere that Cline would have performed back in the early 1960s. Audience participation is encouraged as she engages and sings throughout the evening.

“Audiences will be able to step back in time and imagine they are one of the lucky fans with a ticket to see one of the world’s greatest country legends headlining at the Mint Casino in Vegas,” said Kilroe.

Her performance at Sneakers starts at 8:30 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $15, available at the bar. Sunday’s performance at the Armstrong Inn starts at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. and tickets are $12 available at liquor store or call 250-546-3056.
