The annual Concerts in the Park series wraps up this Sunday in downtown Hope.
Hope Performing Arts Community Theatre takes over the Memorial Park stage for a preview of their Brigade Days production “Fool’s Gold,” featuring the Moonshine Mountaineers.
The group consists of Cheryl Lynne Lacey, Pas Pascucci and Willy Spence playing a combination of country, blues and folk. They’ve taken the liberty of changing the words to some songs to reflect the difference between how men and women see the world of love. The show features a moonshine jug on stage and an assortment of smaller instruments, including the accordion.
Hope Performing Arts Community Theatre who will bring the audience into the town of Hopeful where Nasty Nellie and One Hand Harry are having a dispute which has tumbled over into the mayor’s office. There will be Cancan dancers, square dancers, and weapons drawn. The full performance of “Fool’s Gold” takes place at Brigade Days on Sept. 8.
Concerts in the Park is sponsored by the Hope & District Arts Council, with funding from the province. The free summer event runs from 2-4 p.m.
