He’s biked around most of this great province and now Sunshine Coast folk-roots artist and nature lover Brett Wildeman is fuelling up – on coffee – to ride into Vernon for a concert March 13.
Last in town to support his 2013 release Mother Earth, Wildeman just wrapped up the Cold Hands Warm Hearts tour with fellow artist Jodi Doidge and is now embarking on his solo Dream Catcher Tour in support of his new EP, Kiln.
The two songs on Kiln, Skinny Afro Girls and Venice, were molded and sculpted in an old wood kiln (converted into a studio space) tucked away on a forested property in Roberts Creek.
“It only seems natural to honour this space by naming this EP after it,” said Wildeman.
Released on Feb. 25 as a free download at https://mynameisbrettwildeman.bandcamp.com/album/kiln-ep, the album was recorded at The Enclave in Gibsons, B.C., and features Wildeman on vocals and guitar, percussionist John Tipping, Thomas Biederman on horns and vocals, and Sacha Fassaert on bass and production.
Supported by Powell River’s Townsite Brewing, Ethical Bean coffee and Sitka, Wildeman’s Dream Catcher tour also features Kelowna alt.-folk duo Tiger Moon and Vernon’s Soulstice at the Friday, March 13 show at Gallery Vertigo, #1-3001 31st St., Vernon.
Doors open at 7:30 p.m. with music at 8 p.m. Admission is on a sliding scale of $6 to $10 at the door.
