Author and freelance writer John Vaillant will be speaking at Surrey’s City Centre Library this Wednesday.

Vaillant’s first book, The Golden Spruce: A True Story of Myth, Madness and Greed, earned the Governor General’s Award for Non Fiction. His second, The Tiger (2010), was also an award-winning bestseller that looked at the plight of the Siberian tiger. He’s written for The New Yorker, The Atlantic, National Geographic and Outside.

His latest novel, Jaguar’s Children, is a fictionalized account of Mexican and Latin American immigrants being smuggled across the United States border, only to be abandoned.
