The 12th annual Surrey International Children’s Festival kicks off today (Thursday, May 26) and continues through Saturday evening with a varied line-up of acclaimed local and international children’s performers.

This year’s festival is being held May 26-28 at the Surrey Arts Centre and Bear Creek Park.  Entrance to the festival site is free, as are many community performances and art activities. There are also seven ticketed headline performances scheduled each day, over the three days.

For $12, a Saturday All Access Pass provides attendees with full access to all performances and all arts activities on site. Passes are selling quickly and are subject to show availability. Line-ups for performances will begin 30-minutes prior to show time.

Audiences won’t want to miss the production Love that Dog, which comes to the festival from the Netherlands; Theatergroep Kwatta has created an innovative performance of theatre, video and puppetry that tells the story of a boy who learns that words can be miraculous.

Some of Canada’s finest performers are also in this year’s line-up, including magic mayhem in The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Cirque du Soleil alumni Jamie Adkins in Circus INcognitus, mesmerizing storyteller Michael Kusugak, and B.C.’s own Charlotte Diamond.

The Surrey International Children’s Festival is a world of creative experiences for kids to explore in a fun and interactive way. Find full festival programming information at www.surrey.ca/childrensfestival or purchase tickets by calling the box office at 604-501-5566.
