Surrey’s Youth Fest 2012 takes place this Saturday (Sept. 22), featuring a lineup of bands, a skateboard demo, a teen dance, and more.
The free event takes place at Guildford Recreation Centre (15105 105th Ave.) from 4 p.m. to midnight.
Inside the gym will be activities like sumo wrestling, velcro Olympics, local bands performing, airbrush tattoo artists, caricature artist, a learn to D.J. booth, breakdance battle, and free food and giveaways.
The stage will feature youth bands Ministry of Misfits, Aim for Sunday, J-ClaWsin, After our Juliet, Ransom for the Captives, Within Rust, The Cut Losses, SHADOWS and Northern Rain.
The teen dance starts at 9 p.m. for 13- to 18-year-olds. ID required.
Free shuttles will be available from the Newton Wave Pool, South Surrey Recreation Centre, Don Christian Recreation Centre, Cloverdale Recreation Centre, Fleetwood Community Centre, Surrey Sport and Leisure Complex, Fraser Heights Recreation Centre, North Surrey Recreation Centre, Chuck Bailey Recreation Centre and Guildford Rec Centre. Youth Fest is primarily for youth aged 13 to 18. But during the daytime part of the event, 10- to 13-year-olds are welcome.
