Aug. 16 — The Penticton Seniors’ Drop-In Centre will be sponsoring a concert featuring “the Great Plains”. Darrel and Saskia will perform a varied program including folk, Celtic and bluegrass music. Aug. 8 — Peachfest Grande Parade starts at 10 a.m., down Main Street and along Lakeshore Drive to the SS Sicamous. Check out peachfest.com for an amazing schedule of entertainment all weekend long at the 68th annual Peach Festival.

Aug. 8 — Margaritaville Beach Party at the Barefoot Beach resort with live entertainment by Steve Jone, a pig roast, clam bake, limbo contest and more. Starts at noon.

Aug. 7-9 — Bard on the Bench and St. Andrew’s players presents Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night (or What You Will), performed live in the Township 7 vineyard. Bring a blanket and picnic on the lawn with Township 7 wines. Proceeds in support of the local theatre troupe. Evening performances: Aug. 7 and 8. Gates open at 6 p.m. Play starts at 6:30 p.m. Matinee performance on Aug. 9. Gates open at 2 p.m. Play commences at 2:30 p.m. More information at www.township7.com/events.

Aug. 7-20 — guest artist Emily Beckett will be featured at the Front Street Gallery with her show Among the Vines.

Aug. 13 — The S.S. Sicamous is hosting a 1920s High Tea from 2 to 4 p.m. and complimentary guided tours of the ship begin at 1:15. Staff will be in costume and guests are invited to break out the suspenders and gowns. Pianist Anne Lu will play classical and jazz pieces, all composed before or during the 1920s to contribute to the historic atmosphere. Early bird tickets are $15 and are available at the S.S. Sicamous and at Teas and Weaves on Main St. They can also be reserved by calling 250-492-0403. Tickets are $20 at the door.

Aug. 29 — Thrash Wrestling is back at the Penticton Legion hall for Hard Knocks, with Penticton’s own Lost Apes performing at half-time. Tickets are $15 at the door, $12 in advance from The Grooveyard (239 Main Street) and 30 Minute Hit (52 Front Street-beside Burger 55)
