The art of debate and the debate of art

Ladysmith Arts Council to host a "frank discussion" of what constitutes fine art, fine craft.

If you love art, you won’t want to miss an upcoming panel discussion at the Ladysmith Waterfront Gallery that promises to inspire and raise questions.

The Ladysmith Arts council is hosting A Frank Discussion — What is Fine Art-What is Fine Craft Friday, Aug. 23 at 7 p.m.

Moderator and artist Anne Jones will lead panelists Grant Leier, Nixie Barton, Mary Fox and Robin Field in what is described in a press release as “a lively and sometimes funny, sometime serious discussion about the never-ending debate of what is fine art, what is fine craft.”

“The panelists are experts in their field, well-known artists who will bring a plethora of knowledge to the table,” adds the release.

Following the panel discussion, there will be a question period from the floor and a summation.  Doors open at 6 p.m. at the Ladysmith Waterfront Gallery at 610 Oyster Bay Dr. Tickets are $10 and are available at the gallery or Salamander Books on First Avenue.

This panel discussion is sponsored by the BC Arts Council.
