One of Canada’s top rock bands, Theory of a Deadman is making a stop in Vernon to celebrate their 15-year anniversary.
Last heard and seen around these parts on Canada Day, 2013 at the Funtastic Music Festival, the band brings its hard rock, alternative metal, post grunge sound, in an acoustic and plugged in show to the Vernon Performing Arts Centre Jan. 18.
The platinum selling, Juno award winning hard rock band, which became the first act to sign with Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger’s 604 Records in 2001, has amassed an impressive string of awards and smash hits.
This year has been a busy one since the band released its Angel Acoustic EP, a five-track collection of fan favourites unplugged.
The EP has received rave reviews from critics and has launched the tour, Theory of a Deadman Unplugged 15, to celebrate the band’s 15th anniversary.
Since the band’s inception, Theory of a Deadman has toured with many familiar names in the rock world including Motley Crue, Alter Bridge, Stone Sour, Godsmack and Daughtry.
In 2014, the band released their fifth album, Savages, on Roadrunner Records/604.
“We wanted to give fans a great Theory of a Deadman record,” said lead singer Tyler Connolly. “We owed them this album. It’s completely real, unrestrained and unbridled. We want their acceptance above all. This record was for the fans, and we are all extremely proud of it.”
The song, Panic Room, from the album served as the theme song for WWE’s October pay-per-view Hell in a Cell.
Theory of a Deadman collected a Juno for New Group of the Year in 2003, and a Western Canadian Music Award for Rock Recording of the Year for its 2009 album, Scars and Souvenirs, which contained rock radio hits Bad Girlfriend, So Happy and By the Way.
The band’s fourth album, 2011’s The Truth Is, landed in the Top 10 on the Billboard charts upon its release, and spawned the hit Lowlife, which ruled rock radio for weeks.
