Try out kayaking and paddle boarding

Campbell River's Parks and Rec department wants to get you out on the water this summer

Make the most of our great summer weather and get out on the water.

The City’s Recreation & Culture Department is offering a variety of kayak lessons, estuary tours and stand up paddle boarding lessons in August.

Stand up paddle boarding is increasingly popular. It’s easy to throw a board in your truck or on your car and head for the lake or the ocean to enjoy a paddle.

Paddle boarding cn also be a great work out for core and legs. Wanna give it a try? The next lesson is on Wednesday, Aug. 8, at 6 p.m. More advanced courses are also available.

Or maybe you’d prefer to enjoy a tour of the Campbell River estuary by kayak. No previous paddling experience is necessary, and your guide, Ken Bueckert, will take you through the hidden waterways of the estuary for a lovely evening paddle. There’s even a session for ladies only on Aug. 15.

Last set of kayak lessons for the summer starts with rescue skills on Aug. 7, followed by basic paddling skills the morning of Aug. 11, and more advanced skills in the afternoon. All these classes cost $60 per session. Equipment is supplied, so all you have to do is sign up!
