Turning Pointe Performance Company held its annual Company show on Saturday, April 13 at the Brilliant Cultural Centre.
The Company show was an opportunity for the dancers to share their dance numbers for the 2013 season with the community.
The show was sold out with over 500 appreciative audience members.
At the end of the show TPPC congratulated graduating dancers Alivia McKenzie, Alex Cutts, Kirsten Townsend and Fraser Sutherland with $500 scholarships for their education.
For the 2012-2013 competitive season, TPPC has 55 dancers from the greater Castlegar area participating.
Dancers range in age from eight to 17-years-old and this year will be participating in 24 group numbers, 25 solos, 11 duos, six trios and two ensemble numbers.
The dancers spend many hours working on their technique and practicing the choreography.
Under the leadership of artistic director, Julie Teindl, and dance teachers Jessika Dobie and Karin Palinka, the dancers have a challenging and exciting competitive dance year ahead.
On Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20, TPPC dancers will be participating in a local dance festival, Just Dance.
This festival will also be held at the Brilliant Cultural Centre and will feature dancers from throughout the region.
Thursday, April 25 to Saturday, April 27, TPPC will be dancing at the Danceworks competition in Cranbrook.
From Thursday, May 2 to Sunday, May 5, they will also be competing, for the first time, at the Vibe Competition in Winfield.
These local dancers are looking forward to a great competitive season and hope to make the City of Castlegar proud.
