Let loose with the upbeat, summery energy of two local acts on Saturday, Aug. 1:

Joel Willoughby will play from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and Midnight Lions from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Mill Lake (2387 Ware St.).

Pop singer-songwriter Joel Willoughby’s melodies are sunshine-smooth, inspired by and infused with his myriad life experiences as part of a family of world-travellers.

His music has been featured on the TV show Heartland, and he has released multiple EPs that include both covers and original songs.

Midnight Lions incorporates voice, feel, and energy into a rocking yet harmonious sound with a cohesive four-piece band: Alison May on keys, Simon Menard on guitar, Brandon Clark with a thunderous bass, and Conor Barclay on drums. The Lions’ blend of vocals, guitar, and keyboard riffs into upbeat rhythms are sure to please.
