Two new exhibitions open at Kariton Art Gallery

Reception takes place Saturday, Oct. 1 for shows

An opening reception takes place this Saturday, Oct. 1 for two new exhibitions at the Kariton Art Gallery (2387 Ware St.).

The event runs from 6 to 8 p.m. for Over 60 and Water Colour With Us, which run until Oct. 25.

The Over 60 show is specifically designed for those artists and artistically inclined people who are over 60 years of age. It is intended to be an inclusive show, giving voice to those members of the community who are active in the arts and creativity.

Fraser Valley artists were asked to submit 2D and 3D work in a variety of mediums including, but not limited to, painting, drawing, photography, craft, sewing projects, sculpture, video, installation, literary presentation, storytelling, and poetry.

Water Color with Us features 23 young artists of the Gurmat Center who have painted famous Abbotsford landmarks with guidance from local heritage artist Manjit Singh Sandhu.

The Gurmat Center is a youth-focused, non-profit school established in 1993, with a goal to create a sense of belonging and instill strong values children.
