The internationally-renowned Vancouver Chamber Choir will be performing the masterworks of Brahms with the Bergmann Duo at Langley Community Music School (LCMS) on Saturday, Feb.18.
This all-Brahms concert will feature many works, such as the Five Songs Opus 104, his masterwork Ein Deutsches Requiem, and a selection of some of his most well known four-hand pieces, the Hungarian Dances.
The Vancouver Chamber Choir is an award winning group that performs at venues around the world. The choir has completed 32 recordings and premiered more than 250 Canadian choral compositions.
They will be performing with the Bergmann Duo, pianists Marcel and Elizabeth Bergmann. The duo, who are directors at LCMS, have also won numerous awards and have played across North American and Europe.
“It has been fantastic to work with the Vancouver Chamber Choir to prepare this programme and we are very excited about our performance in Langley,” said LCMS artistic director, Elizabeth Bergmann.
“The programme will show the full range of Brahms’ artistic powers, from Hungarian fireworks, to introspection and majesty. The performance of the Requiem will be with piano four-hands accompaniment. We have taken the orchestral score and Brahms’ own version for piano duet, and somewhat amalgamated them to make it our own. It will be a wonderfully intimate musical experience.”
The concert takes place at the LCMS Rose Gellert Hall, 4899 207 St. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $25 for adults, $22 for seniors, $16 for students, and $10 for LCMS students.
