Vernon-raised Juno Award nominated hip hop artist SonReal (born Aaron Hoffman) has announced the release date of his second EP, For The Town.

Out April 28 via Black Box Recordings and distributed by Universal Music Canada, the title track off the album, available now, is the second single available for purchase digitally, with the video releasing April 28.

The video for Preach, the first single off the album, was shot in 80 different locations on SonReal’s U.S. tour last summer.

The video is directed by long-time friend and collaborator Dane Collison.

A graduate of W.L. Seaton Secondary School, SonReal’s success started in Vancouver and took shape online when several of his music videos and mixtapes collected hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube back in 2011 and 2012.

For his debut album, The Closers, he collaborated with rap artist and producer Rich Kidd, which earned them both a 2013 Juno and MMVA nomination.

In 2014, SonReal took home an award for MuchFact video of the year for his viral hit Everywhere We Go, and currently it has more than 1.7 million views.

SonReal hits the road for 10 Canadian dates next month, kicking off in Hamilton and wrapping up in Victoria (no dates are scheduled for the B.C. Interior so far).

SonReal will also hit the stage later this summer at the Squamish Festival.
