It takes a village to build a community and for a group of local artists that village is offering them a new place to show their work.
Art in the Village, located in the Village Green Hotel, is a new exhibition space open to the public and to guests staying at the hotel.
Opened last month, new artwork, all by local artists, is being shown monthly.
Patricia Doyle, Holly Smith and Christine Kashuba exhibited their work in July and now through to Aug. 29, work by Nancy Vince and Joan Rowan is being shown and is for sale.
“I am excited about the opportunity to showcase local artwork in a location that both visitors and locals can access,” said Kashuba.
The Village Green Hotel is celebrating its 40-year anniversary this year and is trying to remain close to the community it serves by offering services such as the art space.
“I cannot think of a better way to start than opening our doors to the local arts and cultural communities,” said Janna Maderyc, the hotel’s director of sales and marketing. “We want to extend our appreciation to this community and allow groups like this to use our bones as a platform, and our valued partnerships in the community.
“I would rather have a story in our lobby than an expensive piece of art that has no meaning and I truly believe to succeed, we all need to extend the olive branch when we can. We certainly pride ourselves on service.”
