West Bank Country Opry coming to Shatford

Local musicians will join the country fun at the Shatford Centre on March 21

Canada’s longest running country music stage show is making a stop in Penticton.

The Westbank Country Opry is bringing a ton of country fun to the Shatford Centre on March 21.

Penticton radio personality from SO Country radio Dennis Walker is on hand to MC the event after taking over last spring.

In that time, Walker has encouraged  artists from around Penticton and the South Okanagan to join the show including Yanti Rowland, Maiya Robbie and Nikita  Afonso and Beamer Wigley.

The show’s proceeds will go towards the Shatford’s Penticton Rotary Community Kitchen. The kitchen, to be located in the Shatford Centre, is set to open later this year .

“Our house  band will make the trip from West Kelowna and we are working on including  several Penticton-based artists,” Lavern Panich,  Opry musical director, said in a press release.

The Opry will also be joined by special guest Jr. Miss Washington State Rodeo Riata Marchand.

Tickets are $15 and available at the Shatford Centre.

All the musical fun starts at 2 p.m.
