Author Margaret Horsfield is sharing stories about some of the most outstanding historical personalities she’s come across while writing books about Vancouver Island’s West Coast history during Vancouver Island University’s ElderCollege Saturday Speaker Series.
Horsfield gives the presentation Cougar Annie and Company: Writing West Coast History on Saturday (Oct. 22) from 10 a.m. to noon at Nanoose Place Community Centre, located at 2925 Northwest Bay Rd.
She’ll talk about Cougar Annie, a feisty pioneer; Walter Dawley a irascible storekeeper; Tla-o-qui-aht Chief Joseph and his wife Queen Mary; missionary Charles Moser; an eccentric settler named Fred Tibbs and others.
Admission to the speaker series is $10 at the door.
