From making costumes to creating holiday decorations, Patricia Skoreyko has been a crafter her entire life, always creating from what was at hand.
So what happens after the kids are grown and you have the same drive?
“Naturally, you combine it with a love of the outdoors, a passion for beachcombing and a diligent work ethic, and build the company, Water’s Edge,” said Ingrid Baron, co-ordinator of The Shoparama Holiday Gift Sale, taking place Dec. 7 and 8.
Skoreyko uses natural rocks, driftwood and beach glass, all shaped by time and nature, and combines them with copper and silver, to create jewelery and sculpture.
“Each and every piece is the culmination of travel, discovery and finally, inspired creation, resulting in beautiful and unique objects, started by nature and finished by Patricia.”
Skoreyko is just one of the many artisans, entrepreneurs and home-based businesses who will be at The Shoparama this year. The annual event takes place Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Dec. 8 fom 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Vernon Recreation Centre auditorium and gymnasium, 3310-37th Ave.
“We’ll have home baking, gift ideas galore, entertainment, a visit from Santa, door prizes and a concession,” said Baron.
