Friends of the Campbell River Art Gallery recently ventured off for a 3 day trip to Salt Spring Island and say they had “an amazing experience.”

The trip offered the opportunity to visit private studios of artists who have exhibited nationally and internationally and hear the artists share the process of creating the art as well as the art itself.

Highlights of the trip, according to Susie Moscovich, included Diana Dean’s “magical vibrant colourful paintings, inspirational metal and enamel jewelry artist, Jan Smith, textile artist Ulrieke Benner, who works with silk and merino wool to create colourful pieces of wearable art, glass artist, Bob Leatherbarrow, whose mediums include glass disks and brilliant coloured powders and contemporary painter, Michela Sorrentino, who is working with oil and beeswax.

The trip ended with a tour of stone sculptures, “Canada’s very own Stonehenge,” Moscovich says, at Stonehouse B & B.

The members of  “Friends of the Campbell River Art Gallery” are financial supporters of the Campbell River Art Gallery.

The funds raised contribute to children’s programs, bursaries for children and adults, help for those who need assistance with registration costs, and support exhibitions.

There are also personal benefits to belonging to this group, such as these types of out-of-town art related tours, the recent Salt Spring Island trip being just one example.

“Friends of  Campbell River Art Gallery” also sponsor local art events and are always excited to welcome new members.
