Auxiliary donates patient comfort

The Vernon Jubilee Hospital Auxiliary has provided DVD players to patients, and staff and volunteers provided movies as well

Patients on 3 East and West at Vernon Jubilee Hospital are now finding comfort watching movies on portable DVD players donated by the VJH Auxiliary.

Prompted by staff member Mary Weber, unit manager Jody Edwards requested the portable DVD players through the auxiliary’s Patient Comfort Funds, and the auxiliary was happy to approve the request for 10 portable players and headphones.

“The DVD players are for patients who can’t afford, or who find television too confusing or tiring,” said Edwards.

An added bonus, she said, is that the DVD players can also be used for patient education.

A call to staff and volunteers resulted in many donations. The response was great, and many newly purchased movies were donated as well.
