Artists working in jewelry, glass, wood, fibre, clay or metal among other media or who produce work in textiles, furniture, weaving, fashion or industrial design are eligible to enter the Carter Wosk BC Creative Achievement Awards for Applied Art and Design.
Now in their tenth year, the awards honour excellence in the field of applied art and design and are named in honour of British Columbia philanthropist Yosef Wosk and Emily Carr University of Art and Design professor emeritus Sam Carter.
The deadline for submissions is July 10, 2014. Submissions may be entered online by visiting www.bcachievement.com.
The awards are presented by the BC Achievement Foundation, an independent foundation established and endowed in 2003 by the Province of BC. The awards recognize art and design that has a practical or functional application. Examples include a furniture designer, an artist who works with glass or an industrial designer who creates a practical object or device.
Up to three recipients will be awarded $2,500 each at a presentation and exhibition event this fall. Recipients also are granted the use of the BC Achievement Award seal to signify creative excellence.
