The Port Theatre is celebrating the Christmas season with a little something to get everyone in a holiday frame of mind.
The Nutcracker
Nov. 30 – 7:00 p.m.
Dec. 1 – 2 p.m., 7 p.m.
Kirkwood Academy presents this timeless classic, showcasing the talent of Nanaimo’s youth and providing the mid-Island region with a professional, memorable, yet affordable ballet experience for all to enjoy. The Nutcracker is an excellent way to start the Christmas season and is the perfect family entertainment.
Trailer Park Boys Dear Santa Tour
Dec. 2 – 7:30 p.m.
Ricky, Julian and Bubbles are back with a brand new live show. When Bubbles tries to spread the true meaning of Christmas to the world, his good-hearted plans are botched by Julian wanting to cash in on the festive season and Ricky’s relentless pursuit to meet the real Santa. And they have to deal with the very intoxicated Jim Lahey and his cheeseburger-eating sidekick, Randy. Spend an evening with the boys for a Christmas show you will never forget.
An Evening with the Rat Pack
Dec. 6 – 7:30 p.m.
Direct from Las Vegas … don’t miss this fun-filled evening of good music, good fun and tom-foolery portrayed exactly like Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. and Frank Sinatra did so many years ago in Sin City.
Winter Harp
Dec. 8 – 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Winter Harp brings another of its Christmas masterpieces to the stage with a concert that is a feast for the ears, eyes and soul. Velvet period gowns, golden instruments, candles, backdrops of cathedrals and snow highlight this annual holiday tradition.
Vancouver Island Symphony
Dec. 15 – 7:30 p.m.
Intimate Christmas with guest choir Musica Intima – Canada’s newest gem. Twelve young professional singers from across the country, sing highlights from their seasonal recordings nativité and o nata lux. The concert includes Christmas favourites, sing-alongs and surprises.
Mother Mother
Dec. 16 – 7:30 p.m.
GeeDan Productions presents Mother Mother, which has enjoyed a rapid ascent from an acoustic folk trio touring the open mics of Quadra Island, to an internationally-revered alternative pop/rock five-piece band touring the clubs and theatres of North America and Europe.
Harmonies of Faith
Dec. 20 – 7 p.m.
The Mid-Island Multicultural Society presents: Harmonies of Faith – Deepening Interfaith Dialogue through Music.
Performers of various genres, cultures and faiths share sacred hymns, chants, music, and spoken word pieces promoting thoughts of compassion and peace. Guest speaker is Paul Bramada – author, researcher, professor and director for the University of Victoria Centre for Studies in Religion and Society.
