The Coldstream Women's Institute celebrates 84 years by giving back to a wide variety of non-profit groups in the community

The Coldstream Women’s Institute celebrated its 84th Anniversary May 3 by distributing special donations in honour of its 84 years as a longtime community supporter.

Recent donations included a $1,000 scholarship to the Junction Literacy Centre, $1,500 to the North Okanagan College Foundation to be awarded to one student, and $500 to the Okanagan Quality Life Society, which operates the popular Heaven Can Wait boat.

The Community Dental Access Centre, the North Okanagan Hospice Society, a School District 22 scholarship and the North Okanagan Therapeutic Riding Association were also recipients of recent donations from the CWI.

“Although we no longer own the Coldstream Women’s Institute Hall, we are still very active in the community and now meet in a private home every second Tuesday of the month, September through June,” said Yvonne Leduc, CWI recording secretary.
