Crisis Line phone numbers change

The People In Need Crisis Line will change its phone number for people throughout the Interior Health Region, as of Dec. 1

The local People In Need Crisis Line has now been a part of the Interior Crisis Line Network (ICLN) since January 2012. Since that time, Crisis Line Workers have been providing emotional support and referrals to callers who dial 1-888-353-2273 toll-free from all across the Interior Health region.

The ICLN is a partnership of several Crisis Lines from across the region, including Vernon, Kelowna, Cranbrook, Trail and Williams Lake.

To smooth the transition, the People in Need Crisis Line kept the old local access numbers active to make sure that callers had time to be informed of the change.

However, as of Dec. 1, 2013, those local access numbers will become inactive and callers will hear a message saying: “The number you dialed is no longer in service. The number for the Crisis Line is 1-888-353-2273, that number is 1-888-353-2273.”

The new number is accessible and toll-free to all callers within the Interior Health Region. These are the old numbers that will no longer be in service as of Dec. 1: Vernon, 250-545-2339; Salmon Arm, 250-833-1488; Enderby, 250-838-0880; Revelstoke, 250-837-6601.

Crisis Line Workers will continue to operate out of each ICLN partner community (Vernon, Kelowna, Cranbrook, Trail and Williams Lake) as before and the service provided remains the same.

All crisis lines in the ICLN provide short-term emotional support for concerns such as depression, anxiety, isolation, mental health, food, shelter, and family and relationship issues. You do not have to be in crisis to need support. The number, 1-888-353-2273, is toll-free for all callers within the Interior Health region, and operates 24 hours a day.
