Davison opens in royal style

In spite of the cool weather, Davison Orchards has been busy preparing both inside and out to re-open for the 2011 season. The kitchen has been a buzz of activity all winter preparing the jams and preserves. The tomato, pepper and melon plants are waiting anxiously for warmer soil so they can escape the crowded greenhouse. The gift shop is overflowing with specially selected unique gifts. Bob and Dora are busy planting their signature flower baskets to adorn the front of the Country Village, and the Cafe is getting ready for a very special opening this year.

“If the walls in the old farm house could talk, they would be whispering excitedly over the upcoming royal wedding,” said Tamra Davison. “  Auntie May, who grew up in England and immigrated to Vernon in 1927, was a proper English lady and loved to serve tea to her family and friends right out of the original farm house now known as Auntie May’s Deep Dish Cafe.”

Celebrating its English roots (and the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton), Davison Orchards will be serving up a “royal opening” today in Auntie May’s Deep Dish Cafe. In addition to the regular fare, throughout the weekend, Auntie May’s  will be serving tea in china cups, a delicious vanilla slice and the Prince’s childhood favourite, chocolate-cookie-cake, that is also being served at the Prince’s wedding reception. Check out the website for the recipe at www.davisonorchards.ca

The Davison Family would love to see you up at the farm for their Royal Opening today.   Farm tours will run Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. so come up and see the first sign of spring and take some time for tea.

The farm will be open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. starting today.
