Avola author Eleanor Deckert has produced her second book, which engages the reader with glimpses into her family of origin, and the family she raised.
“10 Days in January” answers questions readers have requested after reading her first book, “10 Days in December.”
How long did you live in the cabin? When, where, and why did you move? Tell us about your children? How did you manage homeschooling? Did your marriage survive the extremes of your lifestyle.”
“December” was about Isolation. “January” is about Identity, Deckert says.
All this and more is found in the 350 page memoir.
“It is so personal, I considered ordering only one copy!” Deckert explains. “Maybe I wrote this just for me? But then I thought, ‘Other women have experienced both bright and dark episodes within family relationships.’ So I had a choice: Speaking? Silence? I decided to speak.”

The Barriere Library is hosting local author Eleanor Deckert for a reading and signing of her book 10 Days in January on Wednesday, Mar. 8, from 1 to 4 p.m.
In 1978, Deckert moved to the wilderness of Canada as a newlywed bride of 20 with her husband. Her second book continues where her first book, 10 Days in December, left off and describes her spiritual journey and pursuit of healthy relationships with her father, brothers, husbands and sons.
Eleanor Deckert is a well-known author in the North Thompson Valley.
