Sandra Ralph’s sheltie, Paige (AKA Tavendale’s Tartan Playgirl ROMC), is just one of the many breeds taking part in next weekend’s show hosted by the Vernon & District Kennel Club.

Dogs are ready to go to the show

The Vernon and District Kennel Club hosts its annual sanction match in Armstrong March 25.

Dogs of all breeds will be at the Armstrong Fairgrounds March 25, as the Vernon and District Kennel Club hosts its annual sanction match.

“This is a fun day for the family and is free to spectators,” said Sandra Ralph, with the club, adding that spectators should leave their own dogs at home.

The judging will include conformation, with registration starting at 9 a.m. for $5 per dog per show.  A junior handling sanction competition will be held during the lunch break.

Obedience correction match and the rally obedience sanction match begin registration at 9 a.m., with the match starting at 10 a.m. Entry fee is $5 per dog, per event.

Canine Good Neighbour (CGN) certification testing begins registration at 8 a.m., with testing starting at 8:30 a.m. in the horticultural building; cost is $25 per dog, with a certificate provided on successful completion of testing.

“The conformation classes help prepare dogs and handlers for the show ring, while obedience and CGN are self-explanatory but does help to  ensure your dog is easy to live with.

“Any function sanctioned by the Canadian Kennel Club involves purebred dogs, but mixed breeds can participate in Canine Good Neighbour testing,” said Ralph. “Hope to see you there.”

The event takes place at Hassen Arena in Armstrong, with an on-site concession and indoor benching available.
