The Barriere Seventh-day Adventist Church ‘Food For Thought Dinner Club’ meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Church of St Paul to prepare a complete vegetarian meal using whole grains, vegetables, legumes and fruit.
The healthy vegetarian meal is free to pre-registered members of the community, and is later accompanied by a health talk by Linda McMahon, a Registered Nurse and Natural Health Practitioner.
McMahon presents many health principles in her talks which she says “can add years to your life and zest to your years”.
Dinner Club member Karina Scott advises, “Information is presented that help us take personal responsibility for our health and empowers us to make positive lifestyle changes that impact our enjoyment of life, our productivity and our longevity.”
The Dinner Club encourages people to make lifestyle changes to beat diabetes, lower cholesterol, lose weight, reverse heart disease, slow down the aging clock, increase your endurance and regain the energy of your youth through scientifically supported information. They note, “As individuals and as a society, we can reverse and prevent disease with a healthy lifestyle.”
The meal is provided free to community members interested in attending, but you must register beforehand so the group have an idea of how much food to prepare.
The next ‘Food For Thought Dinner Club’ will be held on Tuesday, Apr. 12, at 6 .m.
