Fort Langley’s Grave Tales returns in October

Tickets now on sale for Fort Langley National Historic Site's popular ghost tours

Fort Langley’s talented storytellers spin tales of love, mysterious burials and hair-raising amputations during Fort Langley National Historic Site’s annual Grave Tales Historic Walking Tours.

On from Oct. 14 until Halloween, the Fort is offering several different walks to choose from.

New this year, adults over the age of 19 can choose to rent an oTENTik tent for the ultimate Grave Tales night out. Join the 9 p.m. enhanced Grave Tales tour, then give your nerves a rest as you warm up by the bonfire before settling in for the night in your private oTENTik.

For brave young souls, Grave Tales Youth Edition tours start at 6 p.m. Regular-length Grave Tales Tours for adults take place at 7 p.m and 8 p.m.

And for the most curious, a three-hour Enhanced Adult Grave Tales edition is offered at 9 p.m, with or without the sleepover.

Grave Tales Historic Walking Tours weave through the village of Fort Langley and the historic trading post, telling tales — both true and tall — of Hudson’s Bay Company workers’ long dead, but still lingering, spirits.

One such story is that of Louisa and William Emptage. Many claim to have seen Louisa in early mornings, searching for William at the Fort Langley cemetery. If you don’t manage to glimpse these two, the tour ends back at Fort Langley National Historic Site in the site’s most haunted building, which some claim is home to a young boy’s ghost who still wants to play.

For younger families, the Fort’s Halloween Hoot takes place Oct. 29 and 30. Enjoy trick-or-treating, face painting, a magic show with Pirate Gary Savard and more.
