A number of Mission groups organized Earth Day-themed events over the past week. Left: Mission Adopt-A-Block volunteers did a clean-up of Windebank Creek last Friday, which saw members of the Fraser Valley Watershed Coalition and Fraser Valley Conservancy lend a hand, and help plant hundreds of plants. Centre: Mission grads and the Rotary Club of Mission (AM) teamed up Saturday to clear out the Gaudin Creek municipal green belt at Tunbridge Drive and Cedar Street, netting just under 1,000 kg of garbage. This coming week is international Rotarians at Work Week. Right: Left to right: Maureen Sinclair, District of Mission’s parks and recreation director, Bert Pulles and Myrna Matthews from Communities in Bloom, Mission Mayor Ted Adlem and district chief administrative officer Glen Robertson took part in the annual Earth Day tree planting on Monday. This flowering cherry (Akebono) was planted at Tunbridge Park, located at the furthest west end of the street in northern Mission.
