The Summerland Health Care Auxiliary recognized volunteers for long service at an appreciation dinner last week.

The auxiliary has been a part of Summerland since 1909 and over the years, volunteers have raised more than $4.5 million for health care and services.

In addition to operating the Thrift Shop on Victoria Road North, the auxiliary also provides volunteer support at the Summerland Memorial Health Centre’s Eye Surgery Clinic, the Dr. Andrew Extended Care Unit and the Summerland Candy Striper/Health Care Cadet program.

Volunteers with the auxiliary work between 2,500 and 3,000 hours each month.
