Hospital auxiliary prepares for busy season

Vernon Jubilee Hospital welcomes new members who wish to get involved with fundraising for the hospital

From fundraising to social functions, the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Auxiliary keeps its members busy throughout the year.

“The hospital auxiliary is a very active group with many activities and fundraising projects,” said auxiliary member Nell McInnes. “We enjoy social functions, working together and new friendships.

“We always welcome new members to work in the gift shop and to assist with fundraising.”

The auxiliary has active knitting, crocheting, craft and sewing groups that meet weekly and make items for sale and items provided to the hospital for the comfort of patients. Last winter, members provided shawls to all elderly patients in the hospital.

Donations of craft supplies, small Christmas decorations, fabric and wool are always welcome.

“Our auxiliary is proud to have donated more than $2 million in equipment to the hospital in the last 25 years,” said McInnes. “These funds were raised by members through their combined efforts.”

The auxiliary holds its first meeting of the fall on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the hospital education room. Anyone interested in attending is asked to please meet at the gift shop at 1:15 p.m. and you will be escorted to the meeting room.
