A group of Langley women are opening their arms to support the Shape Your World Society and Supportive Start charities.
On March 24, Team Open Arms — made up of Darlene Jamieson, Kendall Ann, Bonnie Blanchard, Kristy Powers, Tammy Floyd, Cherise McGee and Shannon Witt-Janzen — will be holding a fundraising event at Arts Nursery at 7 p.m.
The team is one of three competing in “The Apprentice” leg of the Total Makeover Challenge, where the Top 15 ladies have been challenged with hosting a fundraiser in less than four weeks.
In addition to the fundraiser on Friday, the team is also holding a “Brattle Drive” to collect bras and money for Supportive Start.
Supportive Start is an initiative created by Langley’s Forever Yours Lingerie to collect new and gently used bras for in-need and at-risk women.
Team Open Arms have an account set up at Willowbrook Recycling, 19647 60 Ave., where people can donate their recycled bottles and cans to their cause. Quote account 193 for “Open Arms” when dropping off.
Bras can be dropped off at The Local Space, 106-20226 Fraser Hwy., on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Bras and bottles are being collected until April 2.
The Total Makeover Challenge is a is a four-month development journey where women receive free fitness training, weight-loss coaching, financial makeovers, organization seminars, businesses seminars, personal-growth classes and more.
