Kamloops, B.C. – Potters, painters, jewellers, and fabric artists may be masters of their art form, but knowing how to sell their work is another game entirely.
With Art in the Park on Canada Day coming up quickly and other art markets already on the go, artists and artisans are invited to join the Kamloops Arts Council for a two-hour session on making booth displays more visually appealing, engaging prospective buyers, and maximizing sales.
The workshop will be facilitated by Lorel Sternig, KAC Events and Programs Manager and selling artist for more than 25 years, and Jenn Ruemper, KAC Office Coordinator and salesperson extraordinaire.
“I’ve lived the life of artist/entrepreneur, and travelled to both outdoor and indoor shows for over 25 years,” says Sternig. “Over the years I puzzled over why some booths with fairly average work attracted swarms of buyers and other booths with exquisite work were passed by with a glance. It’s often not the work itself, but the way it’s displayed that makes the difference.”
The workshop takes place Thursday, May 25 at 6 p.m. at the KAC at Lansdowne Village (unit 204 – 450 Lansdowne St., next to Booster Juice).
The event is free for KAC members and $10 for non-members.

PLUS – students graduating high school this year and going on to post-secondary studies in the fine arts (i.e. music, theatre, dance, creative writing, visual arts, film) are encouraged to apply for the Kamloops Arts Council’s Julia Appley-Mitra Scholarship.
