The success of a suspense novel by Vernon author James Osborne continues to grow.
The three largest bookstore chains in Canada and the U.S. have agreed to carry The Ultimate Threat, a novel about the spread of religious terrorism around the world.
Osborne’s novel is now available at more than 1,800 bookstores, including big box book stores operated by Barnes & Noble and Books-A-Million in the U.S., and by stores owned by Chapter/Indigo, Canada’s largest bookseller, as well as online by Amazon in Canada, the U.S. and Britain.
As reported by The Morning Star shortly after its release, Osborne’s novel quickly climbed the bestsellers lists. It spent more than six weeks among Amazon’s top sellers in its category, frequently reaching the number one spot.
The announcement of The Ultimate Threat being carried by the large bookstore chains follows a sellout of his novel during a recent book signing event at Chapters in Kelowna.
“We sold out everything Chapters had in stock, as well as an additional supply of novels I’d brought along just in case,” said Osborne. “We’re scrambling to get them restocked as soon as possible. It’s immensely gratifying for authors to have their work so well received.”
The Ultimate Threat was published in June by Endeavour Press Ltd. of London, England’s largest publisher of digital books, and is available both in ebook and paperback formats.
Despite the excitement of having his novel so well received, there is a serious reason why five years of research and writing went into the novel, said Osborne.
“The Ultimate Threat presents a way that all of us can contribute to stopping the rapid spread of terrorism by these barbaric psychopaths. Make no mistake, the growth of terrorism is not just happening ‘somewhere else’ in the world. The disturbing truth is, we in North America are firmly in the crosshairs of ISIS and of those other terrorist clones,” he said.
“It’s going to take all of us to stamp out this scourge so that our children and grandchildren inherit a planet they can enjoy without fear of being savagely murdered just because of their beliefs.”
