A Mission couple are finalists in the It’s My Wedding contest in which voting ends on Saturday.
Mission’s Abigail Shakespeare and Sarah Woodland have been together since 2011 and they believe they’re one of the
only same-sex couples to have made it to the finals in this type of competition, which relies on votes through Facebook to
capture the $75,000 grand prize.
As of The Record’s press deadline, Abigail and Sarah were in second place out of five couples, with 7,251 votes.
The first place couple, Chantelle (who was born in Mission) and Matt, currently has 11,677.
The couple met in the summer of 2011 and the relationship quickly grew to the point where Sarah proposed to Abigail
Dec. 31, 2012 during a trip to Big White in Kelowna.
They entered the contest during the It’s My Wedding event Jan. 4-5 at Tradex. The grand prize includes a dress, venue, DJ and other items coming from event sponsors.
You can vote via facebook.com/itsmyweddingfv. Voting runs until Feb. 8 at midnight and you can vote once per day.
