From psychics to reiki practitioners, Mystics in the Marketplace promises an eclectic mix of healers, home-based businesses and artisans.
“Mystics offers a place for you to shop through a variety of hand made products from local artisans, as well as learn more about many of the direct sales and home party opportunities our community has to offer,” said organizer Laura-Lynn Hawes. “Then you can get a chair massage, a manicure or get your chakras balanced and have a reading to finish off your day.”
The show takes place April 12 at the Best Western Vernon Lodge and in addition to the many vendors and practitioners on site, it will also provide some much-needed funding for several non-profit groups in town.
“We so far have proudly given donations to local causes such as Saving Grace Dog Rescue, Taran Lafond (injured teen), Santas Anonymous and Teen Junction,” said Hawes, adding that the event will be in support of the food bank while raffle proceeds will go to Boxer Rescue Canada. “So not only are we offering small businesses an inexpensive venue to promote their products and services, we are giving back to our community.”
Hawes said the idea for Mystics in the Marketplace came from a desire to have an affordable venue, where like-minded people could find quality items in one spot.
“The vendors support each other, and will recommend each other to people looking for certain things, long after the event itself is over. In this small way, we are supporting local small businesses and each other. What started out as wishful thinking has evolved into a great community.”
Mystics in the Marketplace takes place April 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Best Western Vernon Lodge. Admission is by donation of cash or a non-perishable food item for the food bank and features a raffle with donated products; tickets are $2 each or three for $5, with all raffle proceeds to Boxer Rescue Canada.
