• Oceanside residents have come forward after fueling up with what is claimed  to be contaminated fuel from a local gas station. Several vehicles quit running after a stop at the pumps at Tempo gas on 19A and Texada Rd. A considerable amount of water was found in the gasoline.

 

 

 

10 years ago

 

 

 

• All of the four-legged RCMP members working in Oceanside joined their two legged counterparts in being outfitted with bullet proof safety vests. The Kevlar vests are used to protect the dogs in dangerous situations. They are designed to protect the wearer from gunfire and knife attacks. The cost of the vests ranged from $1,100 to $1,400 per vest.

• Forecasts indicating record auto insurance claims costs, continuing low interest rates and a need to bolster rate stabilization funds mean a major rise in premiums for B.C. motorists. The Insurance Corporation of B.C. announced it will need 19 per cent more in premiums.
