The City of Campbell River Parks, Recreation & Culture Department is offering spring pottery classes for everyone.
If you’ve never worked with clay, there is no better time than now to try. These classes are taught by Joan Grimm and Jacquie Clark. Their artistic talents are very evident as they mold and sculpture incredible works of art from lumps of clay. A wide variety of techniques will be taught including pinch pots, slab work, sculpting and wheel work.
Friday classes begin on April 27, and run from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday classes begin April 30 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and evening classes from 6 to 8:30 p.m. One session includes six classes for $116 – or $104 if you are a teenager or 50+ member. Classes include enough clay to make several projects.
A drop-in pottery time is also offered Friday afternoons from 1 to 5 p.m. This is a time set aside for you to come in and create on your own. It is great for those folks who love to work with clay, but no longer have space to do it at home. It’s also an opportunity to work with fellow potters and allow the creative juices to flow. Drop in to the Community Centre on a Friday afternoon (fee is $3 per hour) check it out.
