Quest Society promotes Speech and Hearing Month

Members of Quest Society want Summerlanders to think about the importance of speech and hearing during an initiative next month.

Members of Quest Society want Summerlanders to think about the importance of speech and hearing during an initiative next month.

The service organization is distributing posters and colourful ears to provide information on Speech and Hearing Month.

Carol MacKenzie, a volunteer with the society, said the initiative is designed to raise awareness, not as a fundraiser.

During the month, posters will be set up at various Summerland businesses.

The large ear cutouts will be displayed on doors in the elementary schools, to teach children about the importance of speech and hearing.

The Quest Society has also given $1,400 to Heather Whitney, a speech therapist with the Interior Health Authority, to assist in her work.
