Ready to renovate, Transition House throws a party

This One's for the Girls is the second annual wine and cheese and silent auction for Vernon Women's Transition House, May 3

The Vernon Women’s Transition House has helped a lot of women and children in the past 20 years and now it’s time for an update.

The second annual Wine & Cheese and Silent Auction This One’s for the Girls is a chance to have a night out with friends and help Transition House.

“As a shelter for some of our most vulnerable community members, we would like to create a warm and welcoming space for the women and children fleeing domestic violence who reside with us,” said programs manager Brooke McLardy, with Transition House. “We are looking towards our generous community to assist us with this fundraising goal and are looking for people or businesses to assist us in one of three ways, donating silent auction items, donating funds to completely renovate one of our bedrooms and/or attending the event. Donations are tax-deductible.”

Donations can be made by contacting Transition House at 250-542-1122.

This One’s for the Girls takes place May 3 at the Best Western Vernon Lodge from 6 to 10 p.m. with wine and cheese, a silent auction, and entertainment arranged by Tanya Lipscombe, with Melina Moore, Jayme McKillop, Kailee Duggan, Sherrie Erickson and Carolyn Dickson.

Tickets are $30 each which includes the first glass of wine. Tickets are available at 250-542-1122 or 250-558-3850.
