Pooch Partners is ready to Raise the Woof in support of a good cause.
The fundraising comedy show takes place Saturday at the Powerhouse Theatre, with proceeds going to the Okanagan Humane Society and HugABull.
“We have been assured that ‘fowl’ language is not part of the act,” said Marti Giroux, with the Okanagan Humane Society. “Raise the Woof is a group of comedians who travel around Canada doing fundraisers for animal organizations.”
Presented by Pooch Partners, the evening also includes door prizes, a silent auction, wheel of fortune and other fun events.
“And Fix Auto Collision has generously donated free car wash cards and the first 75 or so who come through the door will get one,” said Giroux. “It’s an instant door prize.”
And once again, the K-9 unit of the Vernon RCMP has donated a training day to be bid on at the silent auction.
“This is something not readily available to the public and the successful bidder will spend a day with the K-9 unit tracking, watching drug search and seizure and criminal apprehension — it sounds exciting!”
HugABull is a rescue and advocacy group for pit bulls, whose motto is “understanding the most misunderstood breed.”
The Okanagan Humane Society helps to control pet overpopulation through education and by assisting low-income families with the cost of spaying or neutering their pet.
The show takes place Saturday at 8 p.m. at Powerhouse Theatre in Vernon. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $30, available at hugabullokanagan@gmail.com, by calling Giroux at 250-260-4218 or at www.poochpartners.ca. If they have not sold out, tickets will also be available at the door.
