Sir Richard Branson, musicians Sheryl Crow, Willie Nelson and Neil Young are just a few of the famous faces who appear in the movie, Fuel, which earned Audience Award at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival.
The film is being shown on Thursday at the Schubert Centre, a free presentation of the Sustainable Environment Network Society.
Selected to be shown at 20 film festivals, Fuel has won six major awards, and is the in-depth personal journey of filmmaker and eco-evangelist Josh Tickell, who takes viewers on a hip, fast-paced road trip into America’s dependence on foreign oil. The film combines a history lesson of the U.S. auto and petroleum industries and interviews with a wide range of policy makers, educators, and activists such as Woody Harrelson and Robert Kennedy Jr. Animated by powerful graphics, Fuel looks into the future offering hope via a wide-range of renewable energy and bio-fuels.
Living in the most oil-producing region of the U.S., Tickell spent 11 years making the documentary.
