Storytellers needed for book

Lumby has a great history of memorable characters and when the local old timers get together, they often have a laugh about their exploits.

Lumby has a great history of memorable characters and when the local old timers get together, they often have a laugh about their exploits.

Lumby writer Katharine Kroeker and Beryl Nerling of Vernon have decided to bring these stories together in a book and they are asking Lumby residents to help.

They are inviting submissions of stories focusing on amusing and interesting tales. They can be any length, but they cannot repeat what has already been published in local histories.

People of any age can submit local stories they know personally or have heard from parents, grand-parents or other community members.

Photographs (one per story) are welcome and will be returned if a self-addressed and stamped envelope is included.

Kroeker will help with editing the stories and she and Nerling will help people with recording the stories or taking them down in writing. Stories and photos may also be emailed.

For more information, contact Kroeker at 250-547-9434 or Nerling at 250-549-1546.
