The Optimist Club of the North Okanagan is encouraging area students under 19 years of age to contemplate the phrase “How Dreams Lead to Success,” as part of the Optimist International Essay contest for 2014.
The essays must contain at least 700 words but no more than 800 words. The deadline for submission is Jan. 31, 2014.
The essays will be judged and the top three essays determined. Winners will receive local monetary awards and the first place essay will be entered in the district level competition for an opportunity to be awarded a college scholarship of $2,500.
Optimist International carries the motto, “Bringing out the Best in Kids.” Optimists conduct positive service projects that reach more than six million young people each year.
